Bye bye AIM

So for those of us who keep in touch via instant messaging services, what is going to be our go-to replacement?

We will need to find something else.

Have they fixed skype yet? Last time I tried to create an account it required me to use my email address or my phone number as the username. While I could probably use a bogus email, I'd prefer to use something that people (including myself) would recognize and remember.

(I have several bogus email addresses that I don't know the passwords for, but that seems somewhat self-defeating.)

I have some people listed as friends on Facebook. I have never actually posted anything on FB, but it is handy to have the friends list showing who's around. The drawback of course is that we have to use our real names.

Wow, well I have not used AIM in years, I remember using it all the time. To think about it shutting down is a little depressing

Well, that was painless.

Looks like AIM is in cahoots with Google Chat. This morning AIM took me through a few steps to get to Google Chat, so I say we run with it!

Still kinda open to suggestions...

I didn't get anything like that. AIM doesn't love me anymore. *sniffles*
