And another body is left at the plinth. Much the same fashion as before. This one however was completely charred as if burned by the hottest fires, or incinerated. Again, the body was taken to one of the Ilmater halls. As yet, no news has come forth. Either the watch haven't got a clue, or they're not talking about it.

Some say that the mysterious 'Dorin' person is a madman. Others think he's just another oddball. Either way, his fruit certainly has caught some attention. A few people refuse to touch the bizarre delicacy in fear of yet another poison incident. So far, at least, no such incidents have been reported. Rumors go that some of the fruit was once dipped in the fabled Fountain of Youth. However, the conspiracies often contradict each other.

A few nights ago, the barkeeper of the Dripping Dagger lit up his entire tavern after eating one of the magical fruit himself. Once the word got out that some of the fruit was magical, the stakes went up. The rumor goes that someone on the streets is offering hundreds of gold for some of the magical fruit. Unfortunately, supplies are running low because some of the fruit have begun to go bad. As most advertisements go:

While supplies last!

FRUIT-MAN REPORTED MISSING

Months have passed, and not a single trace of Dorin has been reported in Waterdeep. The barkeeps aren't taking it as a joke any longer. From their reactions, it's pretty clear that this Dorin guy never disappears for that long.

Reports are coming in about neighboring towns wiped out by immense conflagrations. Many are led to believe that goblins are behind it all. The nay-sayers scorn the signs that suggest this, and assert that goblins lack the intellectual capacity to pull off such a grand scheme of widespread fires. Either way, the town's ambassador, Mr. Obal Verdun, appears to be offering compensation for investigating the situation of his hometown.

A group of kids in the Marketplace were attacked by several tentacled monsters of varying descriptions, with two of htem even being dragged down into the sewer ... but fortunately, there were three local heroes present! Two local nobles, Khessan Massalan and Kiira Thunderstaff, and a sun elf by name of Sjach Vaeri dispatched the monstrosities in a matter of seconds and saved the children.

-----------

Several hours later, workers from the Cellarer's Guild come along to fix the drain where the monsters had emerged.

-----------

Several days later, the Cellarer's Guild posts up several notices around town.

Edit: OoCly, if anyone wants to look into this on more than a simple mercenary level, look me up. This applies likewise for fellow DMs or pDMs who want in on the scene action.

Copper, zinc, and tin across the city is being bought up rapidly as well as brass and bronze scrap metal, causing an increase the prices for these metals as nobles and those who wish to impress the nobles of the city embrace the latest 'fashion' craze. Gnomepunk. It seems anything with bronze, brass, and copper gears, steam spouting from it, along with the usual leather and puffy shirts favored by the crazy gnomish inventors has become the latest look among the fashion elite of the city. Along with this is a rise in walking canes, personalized constructs, and smokepowder guns (though most of the smoke powder guns seem to be non-functioning, highly stylized replicas of the temperamental weapons.)

Summer of Gnomepunk seems to have begun.

You recall those manholes that the Cellarer's Guild was busy securing in place? No?

Well, there was a mite bit of excitement today as one exploded forcefully, landing the manhole atop some poor wight's pushcart and sending a fireball ten feet in the air. It was swiftly followed by a group of four scorched, scratched individuals who, all hiding their faces underneath masks, swiftly fled the scene.

Following them from the sewer, and the obvious reason for their hasty departure, was a swarm of rats driven mad by confinement and hunger. Partially disbursing, the rats began attacking everyone in their path until the district's cats came to the rescue.

The Cellarer's Guild released an official statement claiming no knowledge of these four individuals, noting that this was why all sewer work required guild approval, and urging the public to come forth with any information they might have on the whereabouts of the mysterious four.

[OoCly: This is an ongoing adventure hook. See here for timing and details.]

There are rumors spreading through the city of a break in at the Temple of the Seldarine. It is being kept on the hush-hush, which of course means everyone seems to be talking about it. One of their storerooms was ransacked. Stealing from the gods, blasphemy!

Early this morning, predawn at some point, forty some prisoners escaped from the dungeons of Waterdeep. These prisoners are said to have been doing hard labor and awaiting exile into Undermountain. No official word has come down yet from the Lords regarding this situation.

Early this morning, The Castle Ward on the northern end of Warrior's way, near where it meets with Bazaar Street was rocked by a series of explosions and a resulting fires. Three homes and three adjoining businesses were completely consumed. Sorynth’s Silverware only took minor damage thanks to the quick response of the combined forces of the Watch, Guard, and Order.

The official word is the explosion was the result of built up sewer gases in one of the businesses. Multiple charred and disfigured bodies were seen being removed from the wreckage by the Guard and Order.

Near noon, a line of shackled prisoners was seen being led toward the West Gate in the Sea Ward by a full patrol of Watchmen. A few minutes after they passed, an explosion destroyed the first and second floor of the Magister's offices. Fires were contained quickly.

The city officials seem to once again be suggesting backed up sewer gases are to blame.

Mid afternoon today, another explosion and subsequent fire consumed a large portion of the buildings between Sail Street and Luckpurse lane. Several dozen businesses, warehouses and residents were utterly destroyed, others are damaged but will be able to be recovered. Word is that one of the warehouses was housing a large supply of alchemist fire and other such flammable barrels.

The City Watch was required to intervene at a Trades Ward soup kitchen, where major fights occurred between the poor people frequenting the place. Some staffers and several patrons were injured.

A merchant was found dead in his cluttered house. He was found splayed in his bed with several ornate scarves tying him to each bedpost and the skin of his chest opened, splayed out. His tongue was found resting beside him. The word GREED was spelled on the wall in his own blood. Nothing appeared to be taken.

A few days earlier said merchant had been selling rotten apples and had been confronted by Lord Jax Hawkwinter.
