The Reincarnation of Miryia Sheydaress

Postby Talinor » Fri Jul 31, 2009 10:45 am

*High above the ground, the first rays of the new day streaked across the sky. The sky streaked and another glorious work of art by the hand of the Morninglord was painted across the birth of a new day.

The resounding harmonies of the clergy of the Spires of the Morning celebrated the promise and inspiration of this new dawn.

But once more the priest known to many as Tal wasn’t among them. Within yet another of the high spires of the temple, he had been working most of the evening. He was not alone, a few younger acolytes helping him with the ritual. It was mostly symbolic, but Talinor appreciated the fact that they toiled through the darkest part of night preparing the body of Miryia Sheydaress. Another wonder in the temple was the drow that had accompanied him there, Rihanna. A priestess of the The Dark Maiden, The Lady of the Dance.. Eilistraee. It had taken a little bit for her to get through a couple of scans by paladins of the order of Aster, and the direct, and rare, push of Talinor using what status he might have in the clergy. Sometimes it’s good to have the divine emissary card…

She helped Talinor with the preparations of the body. The removal of clothing and anything unnatural, after all it was a rebirth of sorts they were trying for. The careful application of anointing oils that was soaked into the body during the long night and other herbs that were specially rubbed into place marking the major organs of the body.

All while acolytes chanted and made sure that the special candles stayed lit; the wrapping of the cloth purified in holy water around the body, so that only her face showed. Then the wrapping around the body was covered in mystical symbol and rune. The runes colored in the bright colors that pleased the Morninglord and was echoed in the pastels the god used this very morning to paint the skies at dawn. All through the evening the drow priestess, much to the surprise of the acolytes there disrobed and danced, chanting her own chants pleasing to the goddess Eilistraee, all to try and gain her favor for this miracle making ritual.

There was a break from the sounds of the great hall, and Talinor and his fellows began their own chant once more. At a carefully choreographed moment, the harmonies of the clergy rose once more filling in the background of the divine chanting of the “shiny priest”.

Sun light began to collect in the reflectors of the high spires, levers were pulled and mirrors spun into position, and soon this room was filled with crisscrossing rays of pure sunlight. The chanting rose to a crescendo and the rays of light focused toward the center altar where the body of Miryia lay. Talinor stood before the body, his jeweled holy symbol held high, and it glowed with divine power as the rays of light focused upon the lifted symbol of the god Lathander. A beam of pure divine energy burned down from the holy symbol and struck the body upon the altar.

The body caught fire from the sunlight fueled by the power of the Morninglord himself, flickering flames that matched the now fleeting colors of the sky above. The body below was lost to sight covered by the bright light of the flames. As the pastels that Lathander favored faded from the sky to the more clear blue of the day… a wind blew through the room. The flame burned down low, and ash seemed to be bourn away on the wind. The body that once was, was no more. Life renewed, the cycle continued and the holy promise of renewal fulfilled.

The former woman, began to breathe, in an interesting choice, the Lord of the Dawn and the Dark Maiden having chosen a very new form….

And Talinor, Dawn Lord and Divine Emissary of Lathander breathed heavily from the strain of the ritual, and smiled waiting the patent moments to see if once more… from death was brought new life.*

For a few moments nothing happens.. Then the ashes of the burnt body burst into the air. They gather and swirl slowly descending towards the altar. The ashes start to take on the form of a new body lying on the altar and when it's finished a pale elven body with fiery red hair lies there. A breath comes from the body almost immediately and the last few traces of ash fall away. Like waking up from a dream, eyelids slowly open revealing gold flecked violet orbs beneath, which wince at the sunlight pouring in. As the eyes adjust they look about and the woman croaks, "Where am I?"

*Reincarnation...rebirth of any sort can be tricky sometimes. Talinor gave a small sigh, always amazed by the miracles the gods grant their faithful.*

*A bright smile on his face, his pleasant voice responded* "I'm Talinor of Lathander, just in case things are a little fuzzy. You are high within the Spires of the Morning. The Morninglord has granted you the promise of renewal. You are reborn to the world, The Dark Maiden and yourself must have agreed that you have more to do before you return to your deserved reward in the afterlife."

"You have been reincarnated...so um, a few things have changed. The form chosen most likely by the Dark Maiden and the Morninglord. Do you feel ok?"

"I feel ok...I think. Just different is all, not in a bad way." She coughs clearing her voice and shields her eyes with one hand while reaching up with the other, feeling the long pointed ear she was unsure is really there.

"I owe the Dark Maiden everything I am, and would serve for eternity if I must, now it seems I owe your Morninglord something as well. And here I thought I was just having the most wondrous dream." The woman smirks and pulls herself up slowly reaching out with one hand so that she may receive help standing.

*Tal smiles, a bright smile* "It was a lovely dream, the standing next to your goddess in the afterlife. You'll return there eventually, as all of those of faith do."

*He helps her to her feet.* "Easy, it will take a moment or two for your instinct and muscle memory of your old form to readjust to the new."

"The Morninglord asks little, keep being apart of those that fight to spread the light, so that it might break the darkness where ever it's champions might hide. Of your own god... I'm sure you and Priestess Rihanna would know far more then me."

"Blessed be to those that do what they can. May the light shine upon you both inside and out, to light your way, inspire you to greatness and keep your courage when things are dark. For it is darkest before the dawn, but with the dawns light the way will be clearer. May each day bring you new opportunity and inspiration."

*He actually dips his fingers into a pool of holy water and flicks a bit of it upon the top of Miryia head, and grins*

"Lathander is the god of new beginings and helps to guard the begining of the cycle of life. I hope you are not offended by the blessing. And there are those below waiting for word. When you are ready, one of the acolytes will escort you down."

Her skin is slighty cool to the touch as Tal helps her up. "No offense taken." After gaining some balance on her feet, she smiles at Rihanna and silently mouths "Thank you as well sister." then turns back to Tal with the same smile and chuckles.
"I'd love to see the others, but do you have any light robes before we head down?."

*Tal blushes and laughs loudly and brightly. The laugh of someone who doesn't care if other folks notice or look* "oh.. right..um.. yeah.. but I thought you worshippers of the Dark Maiden prefered nakedness...yeah.. that's what I was thinking..."
*Tal chuckles and waves to an acolyte* "Dusten.. push the tongue back in, close the mouth and get Miryia a spare robe please." *he grins and winks to the young cleric* "and if you hurry, you can escort her down."

She laughs, "Has the boy never seen a female before, or would it be me being reborn that had his tongue?" Miryia smirks thinking she already knows the answer and watches the acolyte scurry off, "Oh and I don't mind being naked, but it is rather cool though."

Soon as Dusten is back with the robe, she slides into it and is lead downstairs to meet the others waiting.

Charles watches the sun seated on a bench facing the a large set of golden doors. Many people enter through the yellow shining archway to practise their faith. He has been eyeing the sun in passionlessly stillness when it first cast its light through the thin far off horizon of a place that seem so peaceful from where he sat.

Macallan paces.

Why would Talinor waste his time bringing back from the dead a known Drow Kisser? Especially when there were so many other things needing to be done. Tiberius needed to be raised for instance. There was now another drow loose in the city, the assassin.

He paced more.

We need to get his man's head into the game not off tumbling from tavern to tavern and helping out dim-witted folks who do business with the enemy on a regular basis.

He finally sat down against the pew and waited.
