Of Mice and .... Poo-Blobs?

Postby JuneBarcarolle » Fri Aug 06, 2010 2:21 pm

A mysterious scream echoed through the night. At House Raventree the guards were too concerned about job security (and the wrath of their employer should they fail) to investigate the sound. But Kaileta, Charles, and Connor were brave enough to go out into the street and see what happened.

What they found was an opening into the city's sewer systems that had been left open. And once down inside they encountered a pair of vile tentacled creatures that resembled animated fecal matter. And the creatures were eager to wrap those slimy tentacles around the explorers. Ultimately the group was able to pummel and splatter the monsters into brown goo with the help of some summoned rats, which in turn allowed them to find the source of the original scream.

A woman from one of the neighboring Houses had fallen prey to something. Her body was found inside the lair of the beasties, her blood still a bright red stain on her clothing and an arrow sticking out of her back. Any identifying belongings had been removed already, but Kaileta recognized her.

********************************************************************

A thorough search of the lair also yields the following finds:

- a suit of chainmail that hasn't had a chance to rust yet (75gp)
- a matching longsword, similar in style to what the Watch uses. (7.5gp)
- a light steel shield with the symbol of Tyr engraved into it (4.5gp)
- a plain silver ring, complete with skeletal finger (13gp)
- a decaying potion belt (worthless) with 4 potion vials:
- Oil of Magic Weapon (25gp)
- pale pink liquid Hide from Undead (25gp)
- 2 dark green vials with a clear liquid inside them Cure Light Wounds (25gp each)
- 5 bloodstones of various sizes and values (100gp, 50gp, 40gp, 40gp, 20gp)
- coinage scattered around the room totaling 450gp

If everything is sold then each share comes to 300gp. Let me know what what you want to do with the stuff.

Thanks for the little scene running you did for us so late at night June! Was loads of fun =D

And what the heck were those monsters you sent at us? Icky smelly things they were.

---------

After the monsters are defeated, Charles heals Kaileta and Connor as best he can with his lay on Hands healing powers of Divine Lord Ilmater.

When the Watch arrives at the scene, with the Raventree household servant that was sent to fetch the Watch, in tow ... Charles co-operates fully with the police force of Waterdeep.

Charles will go with the Watch and/or Kaileta and/or Connor and/or just himself to the family of the girl who was killed (with a letter of introduction, written by Lady Kaileta Raventree herself to boot). Being a monk of the Ilmater faith in Waterdeep and being one of the three to discover the poor girl's death, Charles feels he might be able to offer comfort to the mourning family with the wisdom that Divine Lord Ilmater's teaching has given him.

---------

If there is no protest about it ... Charles would like ...

... the light steel shield with the Symbol of Tyr engraved into it (Charles is going to donate this shield back to the Tyr Temple in Waterdeep, 'The Halls of Justice'. Charles will explain to the 'The Halls of Justice' and to 'Ilmater Hospice of St. Laupsenn' the events that led to finding of the sheild, in hopes they can find the original owner of the shield, or what happened to said owner to make him/her loose this very precious shield)
[4.5 gp]

... the 2 dark green vials with a clear liquid inside them Cure Light Wounds
[50 gp]

... Charles will takes the rest of his share in coins
[245.5 gp]

Charles looks to Kaileta and Connor to see if they want anything he wants as well so they may move on to a peaceful solutions to the conflicting claims.

Connor cooperates with the watch and gives his statement the best he can recall. He looks through the items he has found from his search and decides he'd prefer to keep the plain silver ring, (without the skeletal finger), the Oil of Magic Weapon, and a reasonable share of coins.

Afterward, leaving Charles to the emotional support of the family of the murdered woman, he tries to dig up any information concerning the happenings and the woman's whereabouts the previous few nights and known acquaintances or enemies. Having a murder so close to home has set the hairs on the back of his neck on end. For the next couple of days, he can do nothing but try and gain any information into the possible perpetrator of this heinous crime. He walks the streets of the Sea Ward and the felled woman's known visits and actually assists with the watch's investigation... (without getting in the way of course.) He won't rest until he's sure the murderer has been apprehended.

Connor's interests include...:
- a plain silver ring, complete with skeletal finger (13gp)
- Oil of Magic Weapon (25gp)
- Connor would prefer the rest of his share to be in coinage as well (approx. 262gp) if there are no objections.

Kaileta of course cooperates with the watch when they arrive, as well as visiting the girl's family and writing a letter of introduction for Charles as per his request...

......................
Kaileta will let Connor and Charles split the healing potions, she only wants her share in coin...

Apparently upset that they hadn't gotten to the girl in time, Kaileta suggests a share be given to her family...

Charles agrees to giving up some coin from his share to the poor girl's family.

Charles does ask how each of them should give, not know the polite procedures when in company with noble families, or mourning noble families.

Charles wagers a guess of giving up 20 gp of his own share to give to the poor girl's family.

Charles asks if this proper amount one goes to a noble family with.

wow. Generosity! Let me know how much people are wanting to give (or not give) and I'll get spoils added.

I'll see about arranging something for Connor to look into here, especially since the other two are now scene locked. MWHAHAHA. :)

Kaileta tells Charles anything he is willing to give would be surely welcomed...

Kaileta gives her condolences on behalf of the Raventree house...

Kaileta herself is willing to donate half her share to the grieving family, which should be enough for a proper funeral... And though not the intentional affect, the offer should also help strengthen good relations between the two noble houses, (a side affect of her noble upbringing...)

Charles thanks Kaileta for her reassurance regarding polite procedures when with noble families.

Charles does indeed donate 20 gold coin pieces to the poor dead girl's family of nobles from his own share of the found loot/treasure from the sewers.

Connor, not knowing that everyone is giving shares of their gold to the heart broken family, actually spends roughly 20-30gp in the effort to gather information and track down the perpetrator. He's like a bloodhound on a scent trail, and he isn't about to give it up...

Once he has his meeting with Jac's supervisor, Connor recounts the happenings in the sewer that night. He tells of the scream, the foul odors, the beasts in the sewers, and the body that initially he thought was attacked my the mosters. He let Jac's supervisor know that they had found an arrow in the woman's body so the mosters could have just been there due to the smell of blood. He also recounts his activities at the dock a couple of days prior...

Jac also explains to his supervisor, that when Connor speaks about the docks ... Connor speaks of the about the bodies found at the docks recently. [aka Rose's scene found here on the forum]
