The Gathering Clouds (Orcs in the East Part 1)

Postby ManthisFocht » Tue Nov 19, 2013 2:17 pm

It has become well known that Tolgar Anuvien, of the Goldenfields Abbey to the East of Waterdeep, has placed a call in Waterdeep for mercenaries and adventurers to travel to the abbey to aid in the hunt for marauding orc bands in the foothills around the River Dessarie valley. Any souls willing should report to the Abbey to discuss payment and for assignments.

Please organize a party of at least 3 people and send him an fPM with your partys availability for the next 10 to 14 days. Level is not important (even high levels is perfectly fine), but please try to keep party members within 2 to 3 levels of one another - ie. levels 3, 4, 5, and 6 in a party is fine.))

Rumors fly that there was a murder at the Trade's Ward Library just last night, a half-elf night librarian by the name of Samantha Ilsen. Ilsen was alledgedly found dead at the library shortly after a nameless source confronted an aggressor who had assumed Ilsen's bodily form. After a breif investigation, the source has been determined to be innocent and there are no suspects at this time.

Reports trickle back from the Goldenfields Abbey that multiple farms on the eastern bank of the Ironford have been put to the torch by marauding orcs. Rumors have it that several bands of refugees from east of Ironford have arrived in Waterdeep recently and such activities have persisted through out the winter, but are getting more and more frequent as winter tightens its grip.

Rumors once again surface...

A caravan arriving from the East carries most troubling news and cargo. Under a tarp on the rear wagon, the caravan master reveals a pile of no less than 20 burned corpses - mostly women and children - that they reported were found in such a state a few days prior just east of the Ironford.

Bastion van Pilkington, some recent arrival from Cormyr, has gone to the Watch headquarters and volunteered himself to help fight the orcs. He's told them that he can track.
