THE WATERDEEP BROADSHEETS

Postby Jiriki » Sat Dec 21, 2013 7:52 pm

(Much like in older times, printing presses are in Waterdeep. Usually only able to put out a periodical once a week, with information, adverts and stories of interest, the broadsheet is here for anyone to use for the movement of major news stories within the city that doesn't come under the rumour thread.)

BUILDING COLLAPSES IN TRADES WARD KILLING 370, in The Lady Shades the new hotspot for high society functions and events. Eighty people managed to get either dug out of the near entire collapse of the building The Lady Shades or were able to walk away from the outside where masonry claimed the lives of the doorstaff and a few others.

Onlookers describe the situation as dire, painfully slow in retrieval of those inside the building. But those that first went in worked tirelessly throughout the night to rescue those they could find still clinging to life. But towards the dawn, it became obvious they were looking at more of a recovery than a rescue effort now.

Among the dead known are a few lesser guild masters, along with Lord Malachi Cassalanter, Lady Erin Kothont and Lord JhuliasTesper.

Investigations are on going.

(anyone looking into this, please fpm me. Sera and Lothgar were on scene as well)

ANOTHER BUILDING COLLAPSES!

The tavern known as The Bloody Fist, on the corner of Snail Street and Presper Street in the Dock Ward collapsed partially last night in the midst of high revelry causing 150 people to be injured and a ten deaths. While it was lucky that not so many people were in it, the buildings either side of this fine drinking hole have both been evacuated until the rest of the tavern has been brought down safely.

BUILDING COLLAPSES IN TRADES WARD!

The busy tavern: The Singed Bolt in Trades Ward, right on the main road River Street; not far from the River Gate itself! The Guards saw it happen and describe a low rumbling sound prior to it, then the building beside it began to shake, there was a vast cloud of dust and smoke and screams filled the air, when it had cleared though the Singed Bolt was gone, along with half the house beside it.

Clerics and city guards are on seen digging through the rubble for surivors.

THIRD BUILDING COLLAPSES IN TRADES WARD!

This time, the tavern - Felzoun's Folly, just off Salabar and River Street, just inside the River Gate of the city has collapsed. The guards at the watch tower say they saw the chimneys in the area come down and a massive pile of rubble and dust filled the air just as the evening's festivities were starting for the night. Salabar street's access to the Court of the White Bull is closed for the time being due to the rubble that came down and some of the houses that joined onto it also were damaged as well.

FOUR KILLED AS NOBLES RACE IN STREETS

Four street sellers were run down when the younger nobles of houses Amcathra and Assumbar raced their carriages in the streets from Traders Way and down to Bazaar street in a loop. The Watch claims that they have spoken to the individuals in question and the houses have offered recompense as well as full payment of funeral costs.

It is claimed that a group of merchants calling themselves The New Dawn are sending a delegation to the Paladinson himself.

Stone mason T'or Ironssun said. "This cannot continue! Too long have these lollygaggers raced around causing fights, damaging property and no one does anything about it! If we even dare to speak out about it, someone comes in the middle of the night to cause more mischief or suddenly we're blackballed by the other houses as well!"
