The hunt for Azure's Edge

Postby Jiriki » Sun Jul 13, 2014 8:06 am

Dreams had been bothering Sir Kavir Agrivail, dreams that held enough of a portent for him to go seek the Paladinson himself to try and gain advice along with insight into the matter before him.

Finally he realised he was being charged with a sacred quest and that he would find out more when Tyr chose to tell him. The crystal he had led him to the Dock Ward, where he met with a blind singer and a helpful assistant and soon they realised what their quest was and what they were looking for with the help of a rhyme.

“”And Azure-edge didst see defeat 'gainst Myrkul’s horde that day
Despite her giv'n enforged task of creatures foul to slay.
She moved herself through realms afar to ward off evil's touch,
Arriving back in wizards halls fore evil gained o'ermuch.
Now heroes new may raise spirit and blades, and take this solemn pledge,
Shouldst one be worthy of the cause, one shall wield Azure-edge.”

The road to Amphail proved to be a little traumatic the other day for the group of adventurers. Saelaerys was overhead, moving through the sky… while Adolamin, Azrael, Kavir and Eadlin were on the ground. They were all talking, but the problem was the weather was atrocious and they had no choice but to bed down for the night in a barn. During which they realized that there was something out there breaking things and stealing cattle.

In the morning, they resolved to find out what it was that was going on and deal with it. Azrael went for a look for tracks and found them, they lead him into the nearby woods. He followed them up through the forest and found a cave hidden in there. Then went back to meet up with Saelaerys and talk about what they’d found.

Meanwhile down on the ground, Eadlin had served her part in this the night before by spotting a shape that moved on the ground and gave off an aura of evil. A large giant of a shape. Kavir and Adolamin had chosen to go down to the old temple nearby and examine that for clues. What they found was a series of a rhyme that gave them more questions than answers. Some of the same lines had even been apparently childishly scrubbed out.

When they all met up again, they spoke of what they’d found and realized that whatever had been in the temple leaving those educated scrawlings had gone back to the cave after. Going up there, they all found an Ettin or so it appeared, but on closer examination it appeared one head was a Paladin, the other was the Ettin. A poor paladin had been cursed to this fate for overzealous activity. It took some time but they figured out how to help the Paladin, but not before some of the local irate farmers turned up, luckily Adolamin managed to go out and keep them quiet with some well-placed words of wisdom and prevented the Ettin head from waking up. With true repent, the Paladin swore to atone for his sins and take over the old temple and act as the cleric for the locals around.

The villagers were so happy to have had it all resolved, they gave what little money they had to share out.

With the problem solved, Adolamin and Kavir continued along the road to try and find out more about the myserious weapon Azure's Edge. The others turned their beasts to home.

(1000gp shared out.)
