Susanna thanks Ethran for his time, and seems interested in the idea of some cash and some items for the Lifejammer Fragment - what suggestions might he have?

The goblets intrigued her, but they weren't offered for this item.

The goblets intrigued her, but they weren't offered for this item.

If Susanna is interested in the goblets, Ethran could absolutely be tempted to throw them in on the lifejammer fragment and include two thousand dragons alongside them. It seems like he doesn't have a huge amount of use for them, but his in-depth knowledge of their effects makes them readily appraisable by a mage-merchant, even though they're not traditional magic items. (OOCly, I came up with the goblet exchange after I typed the first part of the post, which is why they weren't included in the first offer.)

If Susanna and the party don't want those, he has a few random items he would be willing to get rid of as part of a deal for the fragment. He appears to ascribe varying value to each of them (probably not the same value you all would ascribe to them), and would make a deal contingent on which ones you want.

Note: I assumed that those with Sense Motive would leverage it when discussing these items with Ethran, and have included some insight below based on behind-the-screen rolls. *g*

  • Dust of Trimegistus x4: A wooden case, velvet-lined, has a half-dozen circular depressions inside--four of which each hold a 1" glass sphere full of silvery-yellow powder. The powder is supposedly anathema to many of Those From Beyond, and a creative sort could use it in a number of ways against them.
Sense Motive: Ethran seems to think you would get more use from this than he would, given your various adventures, making it a simple case of asymmetric value.
  • Brood-Mother's Comb-Spore: It looks for all the world like a dried-up chunk of mushroom or fungus, and Ethran keeps it sealed tightly in a waterproof bag. If the stories are accurate, Ethran suspects that it will grow rapidly out of control if you get it wet, which may be useful after a fashion. It may also attract some truly unpleasant creatures, though, so you'd need to be careful where and how you use it.
Sense Motive: Ethran values this item but not steadfastly so; he is curious about its effects, but also seems to hold it in a sense of guardianship. If you agreed to report back your findings on it in practical use, he'd probably give better terms on it in trade.
  • Liberator From the Green Decay: This bronze iron disc is ensorcelled with symbols that defy translation, even by magical effects--spells such as comprehend languages turn the glyphs into words, but those words are utter nonsense. Ethran notes that while the so-called "green decay" and the item's effect on it is little-understood, the item supposedly also has some effects when used in the presence of undead or those that would control them. The incantation to activate the relic supposedly goes <<Zhro r'lyh'sun Glaaki, lloigokha n'ghan.>>
Sense Motive: Ethran puts fair to moderate value on this, but seems to value it more for intellectual curiosity than anything else.
  • Ring of Syha'h y'Nat'ghlm: This plain ring of black iron is sized for an adult humanoid. It has no magic to it, and no apparent special powers whatsoever, except one: It is completely and utterly unresponsive to any external input known to the creatures of Toril. It cannot be bent, compressed, heated, chilled, damaged, destroyed, or enhanced. To detect magic, it appears to be its own dead magic area. Ethran says he has no idea where it comes from, but there are a few such rings floating around out there.
Sense Motive: Ethran only reluctantly offers this one as an option; perhaps it's considered a high-value item in the bizarre markets he deals in.

(Yes, you've seen the first item before.)

The party may or may not want any of these, of course. Discuss among yourselves, and come back to Ethran with an offer.

Enialas notes that their are 4 twilight goblets, the four of them could each take one in exchange for the Lifejammer helm. He notes that the Goblets are intriguing to him probably more so than the other items offered, but he is willing bend to the concensus of the group on this.

Susanna seconds that notion quickly. Surprise, surprise.

Seraphina still shows little interest in the goblets - but also not terribly much in the other curiosities. Some do indeed make her curious, but nothing seizes her attention the way the eye does. If need be she will simply focus on acquiring the eye for herself and let the others simply do what they wish with the helm as far as negotiating on that goes.

Susanna eyes that proposal, then suggests that as Tyrani wants the EHE and Seraphina wants the Eye, perhaps she and Enialas should each take two of the goblets for their respective spouses - and then split cash proceeds equally?

Loot consensus:
Tyrani gets the EHE
Sera gets the Eye
Enialas and Susanna each take two of the Twilight Goblets.

And we split the cash equally. Susanna probably already has hers in gems.

(Edit: I see a ring sale for 3,750 gp, spinels worth 1,750, and 2,000 dragons from Ethran. Yes?)

That looks right to me. Total intake of 7500 gp, for 1875 each, plus the items as listed. XP and scrolls were handled earlier, so I'll get that loot processed now (Edit: Done!), and Ethran notes that as always it's been a pleasure doing business.
