RUMORS and SUPPOSITION. (Please Do Not Post IC Actions)

Increased amounts of guards have been seen patrolling the docks and warehouse district of the city. Mostly around those owned by noble families.

The guards refuse to answer any questions posed to them.

WATER SUPPLY

Postby Jiriki » Tue Mar 11, 2008 3:25 am

A notice appears in the market, pinned hastily to anything wooden, within an hour, there are more, crowds gather around the sign, then kiss their holy symbols and make signs to ward off evil spirits, before scurrying away. Off to purchase pottery wares, anything large.

By the end of the day, the pottery stalls are wiped clean, even the guards had to be called in to deal with disputes over small peices.

NOTICE: It has come to the attention of the city that there are rumors regarding the safety of the water for the purpose of drinking.

It is perfectly safe to drink the water.

It is not poisoned in any way.

Lords of Waterdeep

The clerics wander about in a daze in the early evening, never have they been in such demand! The amounts of cure potions and healing they have been asked for this day left the clerics tired but happily so.

And all the while, in the taverns, that trade too increases. No one ordering anything that might contain water. Only alcoholic drinks are imbibed.

The next day, the situation is worse. Caravans get turned away from water troughs while local stockmen water their own animals. It nearly gets violent until the guards arrive and forcibly make things peaceful again.

In the market, there's a repeat performance at the pottery stalls, but this time the prices are much much higher, 50% higher than the day before.

In the taverns, things are much busier than usual, and in the evening, the drunks are piled up outside the taverns to prevent them from taking valuable drinking space for a more conscious patron.

Rumor or not, the idea of poisoned and diseased water has the price of fresh water across the city increasing at an alarming rate.

Certified fresh water is going for more than even ale or other more expensive drinks. Please note the prices listed here are an average as there is not a standard price.

Pint - 3 bits
Hand Keg - 4 shards
Cask - 2 dragons
Barrel - 5 dragons
Butt - 15 dragons
Tun - 3 shields

------------------------
Common sales sizes and quantities of liquids, such as water and alcohol are listed here for convenience.

Pint : There are 16 pints to the Hand Keg.

Hand Keg: 12" long and 8" in circumference, the hand keg weighs about 10 pounds and carries roughly 2 gallons of liquid.

Cask: This small barrel is roughly 2' long and 18" in circumference, casks carry 12 gallons.

Barrel: Generally 3-5' long and as wide around as a healthy man’s shoulders, barrels are the most common container for transporting liquids. Barrels hold 30 gallons.

Butt: 100 gallon butts are roughly 6-7' long and wider than a man, a standard purchase size for well-to-do manors, estates, and small castles.

Tun: Generally mounted into the wall of taverns with a tap directly into it, a tun holds 250 gallons.

Buried alive!

Postby Jiriki » Sat Mar 29, 2008 1:24 pm

The heir of House Jhansczil, Arrikes is rumored to be recovering nicely from his ordeal in the City of the Dead. It's claimed that he was 'buried alive'! No comment has been released by House Jhansczil at this point.

It is rumored among the elves that the normally much more reserved and polite patrons of Kallo'onds were involved in a food fight yesterday! Reports say that there were smudges of blue mushrooms thrown all around the place.

Xairren was seen to be laughing so hard at one point he cried while the normally quiet Devdan helped instigate the fracas!

Garland:
In an attempt to keep the knight standing, Garland is forced down to one knee, an arm wrapped around the old warrior's waist to keep him steady.
"It doesn't end this way! The tales don't end this way! THEY DON'T END THIS WAY!"

Sir Uthgar:
*Sadly the knight shakes his head..* IT does... This is the way it is meant to be. Death before dishonor. Glory before Greed. *He grimaces again.*

Sir Uthgar:
*The bleeding doesn't stop... it continues but there is a look of more peace now on the Knights face.* It's your time Garland... *Summoning the strength he has left the Knight bellows in a field command. A voice that carries and resonates around the docks.* Now KNEEL!! *Its a voice that is ful of authority.*

Garland:
"But....but....I don't want it to end this way! I don't want it to!" he cries, tears starting to fill his eyes. Yet, as Ser Uthgar begins to say the knight's oath, Garland begins to repeat after him between sobbing gasps.
"Death before dishonor. Glory before Greed. A knight is sworn to valor. His might upholds the weak. His heart knows...knows only virtue. His words speak only truth. Only truth..."
Already on one knee, Garland continues to sob, one of his hands finally dropping from Uthgar's waist to cover his eyes.

Sir Uthgar:
Do you so swear to defend to your uttermost the weak, the orphan, the widow and the oppressed; to be courteous, and women should receive your especial care?

Garland:
Garland forces a nod.

Sir Uthgar:
Never traffic with traitors?
To never give evil counsel to a lady, whether married or not; he must treat her with great respect and defend her against all and to observe fasts and abstinences, and every day hear Mass and make an offering in your church?

Garland:
Another nod, followed by a shuddering sob.

Sir Uthgar:
*Uthgar reaches for Garlands sword and turns it flat stepping back to touch each of Garlands shoulders, then with a slowly fading voice..* I dub thee. Sir Garland... Rise and be known.

Garland:
Garland's breath comes out slowly. After for what seemed like an eternity within a second, Garland pushes himself to his feet. No longer a knightly bard. But a bardic knight.
He finally raises his chin, eyes rimmed red from tears and takes a harsh breath in, doing his best to straighten to as tall as he can stand.

Across the city, rumors trickle in about people being attacked as swarms of bats and rats appear.

Dozens of deaths have been attributed to these strange occurrences.

And in the Markets today, house Amcathra lost two valuable horses due to water poisoning.. this word incites panic and more notices appear within hours of the event.

Two more water sources overnight are attacked, the animals lying around it, surrounded by the already unamused watch guards are dead. The dried froth around their mouths tell tale of the twisted agonies they must have felt. The watch do not answer any open questions, only turning away those that linger.

This afternoon, a number of two-man crews were seen throughout the market district going place to place and boarding up the sewer grates with sturdy wooden boards.

There are a lot of wild rumors running around town as to why, things as far-reaching as poison gas, or a connection to the tainted-water rumor, or a sudden summer upswing in rat population.

The Cellarers Guild are keeping to their standard silence and patrol watchmen are likewise tight-lipped.

Two small children related to the house servants of a local noble family were found dead earlier this morning beside the Largest fountain in the Heroe's Garden. Their bodys twisted and convulsed into forms of agony. Their faces grimaces that showed the pain in which they died. They were happened across by a group of people out taking a morning constitional. Guards are refusing to comment regarding this matter.

"Silence Before Iron you are being held on Charges of Possession of an Illegal Substance and Suspicion of the Murder of Lord Maurgosz Gundwynd."

The words have since echoed shamefully in the ears of most Tyrians. Most of them are still in mourning of Lord Gundwynd since the brutal and ruthless attack on House Gundwynd at the Tyrran processional last holy day.

The paladin of Tyr is now being held in custody until further notice.

From the docks to Castle Ward, from the east to the west of the city, bodies have started to appear in alleys. Most have had their throats cut, whether in groups of two or three, or left in solitary death poses. Their bodies left in poses of supplication, humiliation, with the blood pooling around them.

(GI ~DC15 starts the information pouring in~ rolls from Kemian or OOK please, but if you have already tapped up one of us that day, don't try to tap up the other one.. )
