Urban Companion

In one of the WotC web enhancements that we allow (found here) there is an option called Urban Companion, where a druid or ranger gives up their animal companion, and instead gains a slightly modified version of Summon Familiar.

The ability states that it is 'identical to the sorcerer's ability to summon a familiar (PH 52), including all benefits granted and gained by the familiar, except as noted'.

Does this mean that the character would be able to take the Imp. Familiar feat and gain the ability to summon an advanced creature or one with a template?
